Scroll: The Dagger Point

I did not fear the punishment meant for me.

I feared the punishment that would find the ones I love.

There is a special kind of sorrow

in realizing your conscience has a shadow—

and it falls on someone else.

So I confess it plainly:

I hate what my truth has cost her.

I hate the way power reaches for love

as if love were evidence.

And still—

I will not lie to keep the peace of the cage.

If I must carry a dagger,

let it be this one:

that love is not safe,

but it is real.

And the real is worth defending.
